What is dry needling?

Dry needling is a modern therapy method that is used to treat muscle pain and trigger points. Very fine acupuncture needles are inserted into tense muscle areas. This stimulation can loosen hardening, promote blood circulation and restore mobility. The name “dry” stands for the fact that no medication is injected – the effect is achieved solely through the targeted needle stimulation.

How does the method work?

So-called myofascial trigger points can form in overworked muscles – small, painful knots that often radiate to other areas of the body. Dry needling involves inserting a needle precisely into this point. The brief stimulation often results in a small muscle twitch (“twitch response”).

What do you feel during the treatment?

The puncture itself is usually barely noticeable. After the application, the muscle may feel temporarily tired or strained – similar to after an intensive workout. This sensation usually subsides within a day. Many clients report a feeling of looseness or relaxation in the treated area afterwards.

Advantages of dry needling:

✅ Can promote the relief of muscle tension
✅ Without medication – natural and gentle
✅ Can be ideally combined with physiotherapy and personal training

Will my health insurance cover the costs?

Many private health insurance companies cover some or all of the treatment costs. It is best to ask your health insurance provider.
